Introducing the Black Venom™, a bold upgrade to the already incredible Venom™ line. This uncompromising new addition features the latest Leverage™ cover technology from the Jackal Ambush, modified for maximum performance on moderate oil volume.  Pairing this new Leverage™ MFS Solid Reactive cover with the Gear™ APG core creates earlier read and unstoppable traction when attacking light-medium oil lane conditions.

The cover stock on the Venom™ Shock has been the gold standard for benchmark performance since its release nine years ago.  As oil volumes have increased over time, the Venom™ Shock appears more angular, so it’s time to take things to the next level.  Upgrading to Leverage MFS technology means the Black Venom has more bite and a smoother motion on the lane, giving you the upper hand when maximum traction is what you need.

At the core of the Black Venom you’ll find the Gear™ APG.  Originally developed to overcome the loss of weight holes in sanctioned play, it’s a uniquely low RG / low differential asymmetric core that delivers performance beyond its price point.  With versatile drilling options, you can create many shapes on the lane with just this one Gear APG core. 

WHEN TO USE:

  • Speed Dominant Bowlers - For bowlers who have always wanted a Venom™, but the previous releases have been too weak or condition specific, the Black Venom™ is ideal. The Black Venom™ is a modern adaptation of the original Venom™ Shock, meaning that it is now stronger and smoother. This should make the Black Venom™ the perfect Venom™ for people too speed dominant for its predecessors.
  • Balanced Bowlers - Bowlers with balanced speed to rev rate ratios will find incredible versatility from the Black Venom™. As in the Venom™ Shock, the real magic in the Black Venom™ is the ability to use it on a multitude of conditions and from shallow to steep angles.
  • Rev Dominant Bowlers - The Black Venom™ is the ideal benchmark ball for a rev dominant bowler. All bowlers need a ball to use as a lane reader that is right in the middle of their arsenal and can be used on most conditions. The moderate strength Leverage™ MFS Solid Reactive paired with such a low differential (.036) in the Gear™ APG is perfect for Rev Dominant bowlers.

    Reviews aren't wrong, this ball is special...

    My only regret now is not getting this ball sooner. I am late to the party but I finally picked one up and worked with my pro to layout the ball for what I wanted. I was looking for a ball that I could pull out when I hit the cliff. I put a pretty strong layout on this ball and was beyond impressed with how versatile this ball is. I am usually a pretty balanced bowler with 350-400 rpm and 16 mph ball speed. I can consistently bring my speed up to 18.5 mph if needed (to keep the ball up the right side) or drop down to 13 mph if needed (if I have to move way left and slow roll a big shape when the right side of the lane is torched). You can usually find the limits of a ball pretty quickly where some covers are so aggressive that it is impossible to not go Brooklyn bowling up the right side at any speed without completely flattening your wrist, or the core isn't strong enough to move to the far left zone and slow roll it through the oil without the ball losing energy and not carrying through the pins. With the Black Venom, I was able to start right and play closer to the 10 board and hold a line to the pocket. i was able to move 7 boards left and play a bigger shot shape with what I would consider a "normal" release. For fun, I decided to move in front of the ball return to see what the limit was on this ball. I slowed the ball speed down, lofted over the gutter and was able to get the ball through the pins from about the 5 board. I still can't believe how versatile this ball is and I feel like a kid with a new toy that just can't wait to go play with it again. As I said in the first sentence, my only regret is not getting this ball sooner.

    This ball is special

    I've been throwing Motiv balls for about 10 years and this might be the best one I've thrown. I don't have a high rev rate, but this ball hooks a ton for me. I've nicknamed it "cheat code" because it's just that good. For reference, I'm a 226 average.

    The center I bowl at has a house shot with a heavy amount of oil from 13-28 (I'm a righty) and in the fronts for the first 6-10 feet gutter to gutter. Total volume of the pattern is 26ml with a length of 43 feet. Overall, it's 6.45:1.

    This ball gets through the fronts clean, picks up in the midlane and rips off the end of the pattern to find the pocket.

    It's the first ball out of the bag on most nights. It allows me to play a little straighter, away from the heavy oil, and move in as the night goes on. Versatile doesn't even begin to describe this ball.

    I just got this ball recently used for about 15 games and the first night I threw this ball I knew that it was going to be my go to ball! This thing is so smooth down the lanes and very easy to predict! first game was a 209 and it will only go up from there!
